Salmon is an excellent source of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids which contribute to smooth skin, shiny coat and joint health.
We added L-Carnitine, a vitamin-like compound used for fatty acid metabolism, a process that helps utilize fat. The holistic ingredients in this food work together to contribute to overall health for dogs of all sizes.

It is estimated 1 in every 4 dogs in North America is overweight. To determine if your dog is overweight, consult your veterinarian and check your dog periodically. You should be able to feel his backbone and ribs, see a waist between the ribs and hips and a noticeable belly tuck at the hind legs. If you cannot feel or see this, your dog is probably overweight. Consider using a weight control feeding program, such as Performatrin Ultra® Healthy Weight Salmon Small Bite Recipe Dog Food, to help your overweight dog.
Step 1: Introduce
Mix ¼ part of Performatrin Ultra® Healthy Weight with Salmon Small Bite Recipe with ¾ parts of your dog’s current food for 2-3 days. Gradually increase the proportion of Performatrin Ultra® Healthy Weight Salmon Small Bite Recipe during the next 5-10 days, while decreasing the amount of old food until you are exclusively feeding this formula.
Step 2: Reduce Intake
Performatrin Ultra® Healthy Weight with Salmon Small Bite Recipe is specially formulated to satisfy dog’s appetite faster, so that your dog is wanting (and eating) less food. Start by determining how much your dog is currently eating by either weighing or counting the number of portions of food fed daily. The accompanying Feeding Guide indicates the typical amount of this food required to maintain the indicated ideal weight. Your dog will adjust better to eating less food if the amount of food is reduced gradually rather than one drastic reduction of food intake. Start by decreasing the amount of food by 10% and weigh you dog again in 2 weeks. The goal is to have your dog lose between 2-3% of body weight in a 2-week period. For example, a 50-lb (23-kg) dog should lose about 1 lb (0.45 kg) over 2 weeks. If your dog’s weight loss over this period is less than 2% of body weight, reduce the amount fed by another 10%. Continue this pattern until your dog is losing between 2-3% body weight in a 2-week period – keep in mind that most dogs will need 20-40% less food to achieve this rate of weight loss, at which point you can simply maintain that level of food consumption until your dog has successfully achieved his target weight. It may take 6-10 months to reach your dog’s ideal body weight.†
Step 3: Measure Success
Maintain a weight loss chart to monitor progress. Weigh your dog on a scale every 2 weeks or use a measuring tape to record its girth behind the front legs and in front of the hind legs. Slow, sustainable weight loss is best for achieving permanent results.
Step 4: Maintain Success
Once your dog’s target weight has been achieved, increase the amount of Performatrin Ultra® Healthy Weight with Salmon Small Bite Recipe fed by 10% every 2 weeks until desired weight is maintained. For long-term weight maintenance, adjust feeding according to your dog’s individual needs.
Supplementary Treats: If you are giving treats, use in moderation and select low-fat, healthy choices.
Exercise: To help increase your dog’s metabolism, increase the amount of walking or play time.
† Based on the dog being 25% to 30% overweight.
